Father’s Day explores how a father could find himself resorting to the most extreme action imaginable; taking the life of his own child.

In the wake of numerous news stories about estranged fathers murdering their children, we follow the story of a man who finds himself on the verge of committing the most heinous crime possible.

Father’s Day does not seek to find answers to such tragic circumstances. Instead, it is an observation of the extreme nature of love and the selfish lengths some people will go to in order to shield themselves from pain and loss.

Father's Day was screened as part of the official selection at the 16th Bradford International Film Festival on 27th March 2010.

After winning three awards at the LA Reel Film Festival in 2009, this year producer Toby Richards will accept his Best up and coming Producer award at the British Independent Film Festival on 24th April after screening the film. Book tickets.

Father's Day brought together an exceptional cast and crew to realise this painful, controversial film, including Kevin R McNally (Pirates of the Caribbean).

Director William Gilbey remarked: "How does a man prepare himself mentally to murder his own child? Trying to get under the skin of a man who is contemplating the unthinkable and trying to portray him fairly is a real challenge as a film-maker." Read more...
